DA: Flanders Man Who Assaulted Pregnant Girlfriend to be Arraigned Thursday
The woman was forced into emergency surgery to save the life of the child, police say.

A Flanders man who is accused of brutally assaulting his pregnant girlfriend earlier this month, forcing the woman into emergency surgery to save the life of her unborn child, will be arraigned on a grand jury indictment on Thursday, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.
Southampton Town police charged Mohammed Proctor, 38, with assault and criminal obstruction of breathing after the incident at his home on Woodland Trail, according to the DA.
The mother, Tiffany Norris, who was seven-and-a-half months pregnant, gave birth to a baby girl who is receiving care at Stony Brook University Hospital, the DA said.

Acting State Supreme Court Justice Mark Cohen will unseal Proctor’s indictment Thursday.
