Driver Airlifted After Car Crashes Into Tree In Calverton: Police
The crash took place Monday afternoon, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A driver was airlifted after a car crashed into a tree in Calverton Monday afternoon, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the single-car crash took place at 4:54 p.m. on Route 25 when a 2007 Honda Accord struck a tree on the north side of the roadway.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was treated by Riverhead Town Volunteer Ambulance Corps members and then airlifted by Suffolk County Police Department aviation to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is ongoing; there were no witnesses at the scene, police said.
