Man Dies After Jeep Rollover on Long Island Expressway
Police have identified the man who they believe had a medical event and died while driving on the LIE Tuesday, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A driver who was involved in a Jeep rollover crash on the Long Island Expressway Tuesday has died — and officials believed he had a medical event prior to the crash, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place just east of Exit 70 on the LIE in Manorville when William Thomas, 60, of Manorville, who was driving a 2014 Jeep Patriot west on the LIE, veered off the road and overturned at 4:50 p.m., police said.
Detectives believe Thomas suffered a medical event prior to the crash; a passenger in the Jeep, Catherine Lucero, 55, of Riverhead, was uninjured, police said.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

The LIE was closed between exits 71 to exit 70 for the investigation, police said.
