Driver In Silver Pickup Follows Riverhead Students To School: District
The driver also asked them for their social media profiles; police were called, district officials say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two Riverhead High School students were followed by the driver of a silver pickup truck recently, the district said.
According to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Augustine E. Tornatore, the off-campus incident took place when they were walking back to the school from an eatery in town and followed.
"The pickup truck stopped before the students reached the high school campus, and the driver asked the students for their social media profiles," he wrote in a message to Blue Waves families. "The students ignored the driver and walked onto the school grounds and into the building."

The students reported the incident to building administration and district security, Tornatore said. Riverhead Town police were immediately notified and are currently investigating the incident, he added.
"Both students are safe after this off-campus incident. We want to make sure families are aware of this vehicle traveling in town. We also want to encourage parents and guardians to speak with their children about the importance of always traveling in groups when walking in town or anywhere on off campus grounds," Tornatore said.
