Drunk Woman Puts Vehicle In Reverse, Strikes Police Car: Cops

BREAKING: There were no injuries reported, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A drunk driver put a car into reverse and struck a police vehicle during an attempted traffic stop, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Ashley Marcus, 29, was arrested on Saturday at approximately 4:22 p.m. after a marked Riverhead police car entered the Riverhead Commons, located at 721 East Main St., and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Marcus put the vehicle in reverse, striking the police car, police said.

Marcus was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, aggravated first degree unlicensed operation, and operating a vehicle without a court-ordered interlock device, police said.

The vehicles involved sustained only minor damage and there were no injuries resulting from the incident, police said.

The vehicle's owner, Stacey Hudson, was issued a summons for facilitating aggravated unlicensed operation, police said.
