Duo Nabbed After Stealing Wallet With $600: Cops

The person robbed sustained minor injuries, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A duo was nabbed after they allegedly stole a wallet containing $600 in Riverhead Sunday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, on Sunday at 7 p.m., police responded to West Main Street near Griffing Avenue after the report of a stolen wallet.

Upon police arrival, it was determined that an individual was robbed of $600 by a man and woman, police said. Two subjects were detained in the area while the Riverhead Police Department's detective division conducted an investigation, police said.

The person whose wallet was stolen identified both the male and female subjects who robbed him, police said.

Jamar Q. Newkirk, 22, of Riverhead, and Kyisha M. Dozier, 30, of Riverhead, were identified, arrested, and charged with second degree robbery, police said.

Both were transported to the Riverhead Police Department for processing and held for morning arraignment, police said.

The person robbed sustained minor injuries during the robbery but did not require medical treatment, police said.
