DWI Driver Crashes Into 2 Parked Police Cars On LI: PD
The officers were investigating a call when a man charged with DWI crashed into their parked cars, authorities say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed into two police cars Saturday, authorities said.
According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at 10:10 p.m. on Roanoke Avenue; the officers were investigating a call when their two marked police vehicles were struck by a driver in a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee who was heading north, police said.
At the time of the crash, both police cars had their rear emergency light bars activated and were unoccupied; neither officer was injured, police said.

Jason Velasquez, the driver of the Jeep, was arrested and charged with DWI as well as other traffic violations, police said.
He was taken to Riverhead Police Department headquarters and held for morning arraignment, police said.
