DWI Enforcement Stepped Up For Holiday Week

Police urge residents to use a designated driver and stay safe during this holiday week.

RIVERHEAD, NY — The message is simple on the East End this holiday season: Don't drink and drive.

As part of the Suffolk County District Attorney's DWI Task Force initiative, the Riverhead Police Department and other East End law enforcement agencies are reminding motorists to drive safely and comply with all vehicle and traffic laws while enjoying the holidays.

"Enforcement has been and will continue to be increased this week and throughout the holiday season," Riverhead Police said. "Remember to make appropriate decisions and assign a designated driver, call for a ride, or make arrangements to stay at a location if you have been drinking. Please make certain that all passengers in your vehicle wear their seat belts."
