DWI Task Force Nets 8 Arrests In Riverhead: Police
The drunk drivers were nabbed during Memorial Day weekend enforcement efforts including weekend checkpoints, extra patrols, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A crackdown on drunk driving netted eight arrests Saturday night, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department reported arresting the eight individuals as part of the continuing Suffolk County District Attorney's DWI Task Force.
Members of the Riverhead Police Department, Suffolk County Police Department, Southold Police Department and New York State Police conducted increased enforcement throughout Riverhead, where several checkpoints and extra patrols had been established throughout the evening.

Those arrested, according to Riverhead Police, include:
- Michael E. Pressler, 59, of Aquebogue, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic violations and held for morning arraignment, police said.

- Eli B. Kowalski, 30, of Brooklyn, was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicle and traffic violations and held for morning arraignment, police said.
- A man, 30, from Yaphank, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and later released on appearance ticket, police said,
- A 24-year old woman from Shoreham was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and later released on an appearance ticket, police said.
- Cecelia Dmitrash, 36, of Flanders, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and held for morning arraignment, police said.
- Gelvin Santiago, 30, of Riverhead, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and held for morning arraignment, police said.
- Tamien Trent, 36, of Mastic, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and held for a.m. arraignment, police said.
- A man, 38, of Flushing, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and released on an appearance ticket, police said.
Those arrested were transported to both the Riverhead Police Department and New York State Police barracks in Riverside where they were processed; similar enforcement details are scheduled to continue throughout the year, police said.
