East End Arts Accepting Applications For JumpstART Program

The deadline for applications is Friday, Feb. 13.

East End Arts recently announced they will be accepting applications for the second year of their professional development and public arts program for artists of all disciplines, titled JumpstART.

This program provides the opportunity for artists to jumpstart their artistic careers by learning about the fundamentals involved to best grow their business.

Participating artists will be invited to hear from artists who have succeeded in making a living with their art, including from the artists who participated in the inaugural 2014 JumpstART program.

This program also offers the amazing opportunity for artists’ work to get high visibility through public presentation.

East End Arts has developed an intensive curriculum dedicated to the business side of art, all while being important catalysts for creative placemaking.

A limited number of artists of any discipline will be accepted into JumpstART.

In addition to a number of workshops and mentorships with 2014 JumpstART artists, all accepted participating artists will have the opportunity to design and implement a public art project in downtown Riverhead during the Summer of 2015, and/or East Hampton during another season, to be announced.

This program is open to all visual and performing artists, of any discipline.

East End Arts is now accepting applications for artists interested in participating in this program.

To apply, artists must complete an online application.

The deadline for application submission is Friday, Feb. 13, at 11:59 p.m.

Artists who apply to participate will be notified of their acceptance into the program by February 27, 2015.

The program will begin with an orientation on March 15, 2015 and will continue with a series of intensive workshops in March, April and May.

The program will culminate with a public art project in Downtown Riverhead, kicking off on Friday, August 7, as well as in the village of East Hampton on another date to be announced.

Mandatory workshop sessions on the following subjects will be offered to all participants.

All workshops will be held at East End Arts in Riverhead:

  • Orientation – Sunday, March 15, 2015
  • Session 1: Artist Career Building – Saturday, March 28
  • Session 2: Fundraising in the Arts – Saturday April 18
  • Session 3: Legal Matters for Artists – Saturday May 9
  • Session 4: Marketing and Social Networking – Saturday May 30
  • Session 5: Public Presentation of Project – date to be announced
  • Mentorship sessions will follow each scheduled workshop session

Accepted artists must commit to (1) attending program orientation and all workshop sessions; (2) designing and implementing a public art project in downtown Riverhead during the Summer of 2015, and/or East Hampton during another season to be announced; as well as a (3) participation fee of $100 from selected artists, which is due prior to the first session.

East End Arts’ JumpstART Program is made possible with funds from the Long Island Community Foundation.
