East End Arts Gallery to Host All Media Art Show

The opening reception will take place on Friday.

A new juried, all media art show, Abstract & Almost Abstract, will be coming soon to the East End Arts Gallery with the opening reception taking place on Friday, March 13.

The reception will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gallery located on 133 East Main Street in Riverhead and will run through April 17.

show will feature artwork with abstract elements: “whether purely abstract or just a little bit figurative, the artwork in this exhibition will be far from representational” explains East End Arts Gallery Director, Jane Kirkwood.

At the reception, which is free and open to the public, guests are invited to enjoy refreshments and meet the artists.

This show will be juried by Brian Washburn, artist and Director of the Washburn Gallery in New York City.

Washburn went to school for fine arts, but was also trained as a commercial and decorative painter, and learned theatrical techniques which still help him to achieve his desired results including: plastering, glazing and spattering are all methods.

The “Best in Show” winner of this show will be one of several artists who will participate in the East End Arts Gallery’s Winners’ Show in the Fall of 2016. First, Second, Third Place, and Honorable Mentions will also be awarded.

This exhibition is one of seven art shows of 2015 at the East End Arts Gallery, under the umbrella theme “The Creative Process”.

Programs of the East End Arts Gallery are made possible with public funding provided by New York State Council of the Arts, Suffolk County, and the Town of Riverhead.
