Elderly Woman Crashes Vehicle Into Baiting Hollow Home: Police

The home had extensive damage, police said.

BAITING HOLLOW, NY — An 87-year-old woman lost control of her her 1998 Ford van and crashed into an unoccupied home in Baiting Hollow Tuesday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the driver careened into the front of the home on Cottage Road in Woodcliff Park; the accident took place at 6:20 p.m. and caused extensive damage to the house, police said.

The elderly woman sustained a non-life threatening head injury and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Riverhead Town Ambulance Corps, police said.

The Riverhead Fire Marshal was called to the scene to inspect the structural integrity of the house, police said; the investigation is ongoing.
