The horrific crash in Ridge left family members devastated.
McCoy, 55, of Calverton, her daughter, Booker, 36, of Riverhead, her son McCoy, 33, and McCoy's friend, Foster, 42, were inside a 2012 Mazda that was struck by a stolen car on Middle Country Road on the morning of Feb. 14. The Mazda then struck another vehicle and went up in flames. All four people were pronounced dead at the scene.
Lonidell Skinner, a 19-year-old passenger in the stolen car, a 2018 Camaro, was also killed in the crash. The driver of an oil truck that was also involved in the crash was seriously injured.
The driver of the Camaro, 23-year-old Jamel Turner, of Bellport, was arrested and charged with third degree criminal possession of stolen property and false personation. He is expected to face upgraded charges.
Turner, a member of the Bloods gang, was driving the stolen car at over 100 mph when he triggered the crash, prosecutors said, according to a News 12 report.
