Farmstand Thief Caught Red-Handed: Police
BREAKING: The thief was held on the scene by the farm's owner, police said.

WADING RIVER, NY — A farmstand thief was caught in the act on Wednesday in Wading River, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a call came in at 3:54 a.m. from an alarm company, reporting that an activated alarm had come in from Fink's Country Farm in Wading River.
The alarm company told police that the owner was responding to check on the premises, police said.

A short time later, authorities received a call from the owner's wife, stating that her husband had gone to the farmstand and was detaining a man he'd found there, police said.
It was determined that a burglary had taken place, with proceeds in the process of being removed from the farmstand, police said. The Riverhead Police detective squad was notified and responded to the scene, police said.

David W. Liss, 43, of Ridge, was found to be in possession of the proceeds; he was arrested and charged with third degree burglary and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said. He was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
