Firefighters Knock Down Calverton Blaze Monday
The flames were quickly knocked down, firefighters say.
CALVERTON, NY — The Riverhead Fire Department rushed to douse a fire that broke out Monday in Calverton, officials said.
According to fire officials, the fire broke out about 6:20 p.m. at a residential structure on Deep Hole Road.
"Upon arrival, crews were met with a working fire and immediately went to work," the Riverhead Fire Department siad. "The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control in a short period of time, limiting damage to the structure."

Riverhead firefighters operated on scene with mutual aid from the Jamesport Fire Department (RIT), Wading River Fire Department, and Ridge Fire Department.
"We also thank the Flanders Fire Department for standing by at headquarters. We thank all assisting agencies for their continued support and teamwork," the Riverhead Fire Department said.
