Flanders Man Charged With Robbing, Sexually Assaulting Woman In Riverhead Parking Lot

The incident occurred earlier this month.

A Flanders man has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing and stealing a cellphone from a woman in a Riverhead parking lot earlier this month. 

Jamie R. Xiquin-Valdez, 26, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after an investigation into an incident reported to Riverhead Police on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Xiquin-Valdez was charged with one count of third degree robbery, one count of first degree sex abuse and one count of unlawful imprisonment, according to police.

He was processed and arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court where his bail was set at $25,000.

On Sunday, Oct. 4, Xiquin-Valdez was arrested along with another man for allegedly stealing a wallet from another man in Riverhead.

Riverhead Town Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating a man accused of entering a woman’s car and stealing her cellphone in Riverhead on Saturday morning.

Police received a 911 call for assistance in a parking lot on McDermott Avenue at 12:26 a.m., police said.

Upon arrival responding officers interviewed a 26 year-old woman who reported she was “physically accosted” by an unknown man who entered her car while she was sitting in it and took her cell phone, police said.

The man then fled on foot south towards the Peconic River front, according to police.
