Great Riverhead Cardboard Boat Race to Take Place This Sunday

The race was rescheduled after thousands of dead fish washed up on the shores of the Peconic River in June.

The 6th Annual Great Riverhead Cardboard Boat Race will be taking place this weekend.

The race, which was originally scheduled for June 28, will be taking place on Sunday, August 23 on the Peconic riverfront in downtown Riverhead.

The race was rescheduled after thousands of dead bunker fish were found on the shores of the Peconic River back in June.

The annual Supervisor’s Cup race between Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter and Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst has been rescheduled for 11 a.m.

Walter will be looking to bring the trophy back home to Riverhead this year while Throne-Holst feels confident that the trophy will remain in Southampton.
