Man Shot After Opening Fire On Police In Suffolk: Cops
Riverhead police said the man was armed with a shotgun and opened fire on officers in Jamesport.
JAMESPORT, NY — A man was shot after he opened fire on police in Jamesport Wednesday night, officials said.
A call came in at 7:47 p.m. about a dispute on Manor Lane, according to Riverhead Police Chief David Hegermiller. A man had reportedly barricaded himself in a residence. A short time later, he came out with a shotgun and fired at Riverhead police officers, Hegermiller said.
Riverhead police returned fire, striking the man, who was subdued, taken into custody, and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Hegermiller said.

No police officers were injured, Hegermiller said, adding that the man arrested has not yet been identified.
Suffolk County police were called to investigate the shooting.
