Gunshots Fired From Vehicle Damage Cars, Kitchen At LI Home: PD

The gunshots were fired Monday night in Calverton, police say.

CALVERTON, NY — Gunshots were fired during a dispute at a Calverton home Monday night, causing damage to a kitchen and vehicles, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 7:50 p.m. at a residence on Sound Avenue. When police arrived, they secured the area and determined that no one had been injured, authorities said.

A dispute broke out between the resident of the home and three people in a black, four-door sedan, police said. Gunshots were fired from inside the vehicle, striking the kitchen inside the home and four vehicles parked at the home, causing damage, police said.

Although the resident and the people inside the vehicle did not know one another, the incident was not believed to be random, police said; detectives are investigating.
