Gym Program Fosters Architectural Skills

The focus is on teamwork and architecture as kids participate in a fun and engaging gym program in Aquebogue.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Working together toward a common goal, students at Aquebogue Elementary School in the Riverhead Central School District are gaining skills in teamwork and architecture as part of an Imagination Station gym program.

According to the districts, kids use creativity to build structures using large Styrofoam building blocks; they collaborate in teams to take on challenges, which include assembling the largest, tallest and strongest fabrications.

“The students really seem to enjoy the program,” said Assistant Principal Vanessa Williams, who added that the program has grown over the past two years to incorporate all grade levels at the school.
