Horse Related To Secretariat In Dire Need Of Home, Family Says
"He is a smooth ride with a sweet soul."

WADING RIVER, NY —A woman has turned to social media to find a new home for a horse that has an amazing lineage — he's reportedly the great-great grandson of Secretariat.
Christina Hoshyla, who lives in Wading River, wrote a post on Facebook recently about her mother's horse, Red, who is 17 years old and 16.3 hands. "He used to race when he was younger," she said. "We took him in and my mother has his papers on him being Secretariat's great-great grandson."
But now, Hoshyla, who has a hair salon in Rocky Point, said her mother, who is working full-time and lives in Nissequogue Village, does not have the time to care for Red due to the long hours that she's away every day.

"He needs a home," she said. "She really wants him to be well taken care of, as do I. I used to ride him all the time. He show-jumped for a few years. He has done the vineyard rides every year with me. He has a loving, tender spirit. We worked with him for years to get the flight out of him from racing. He’s a good boy. He gets along well with other horses and animals."
Red, she added, "is a a smooth ride with a sweet soul." She said she'd love to find him a home on the North Fork with a family that rides; he loves other horses, she said.
