House Damaged In 'Suspicious' Fire: Police
The side of the house was charred in the fire, which officials have deemed suspicious, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A fire that left a house damaged in Riverhead has been deemed suspicious, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a call came in at 4:34 a.m. Tuesday about a fire on West Main Street; officers, along with the Riverhead Fire Department, responded.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which was burning alongside a vacant residence, police said.

The Riverhead fire marshal was notified and called the fire suspicious, police said. An investigation revealed that the fire was started outside of the house and then spread, charring the side of the house and causing damage, police said. No injuries were reported, police said.
Riverhead detectives, along with the Suffolk County Police Department's arson unit, also responded. Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500.
