Indian Island County Park Now Offering Free Wi-Fi

Park at the mouth of Peconic Bay one of six receiving the service.

Can't leave home without your laptop or iPad, even on a trip to the beach?

Take a trip to . Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy announced on Wednesday that the county park - along with five others - now has free Wi-Fi for visitors.

“We are proud to provide this great service to park patrons who want to stay connected to the outside world even as they enjoy the great resources available at Suffolk parks, beaches, campgrounds and other facilities," Levy said.

Cupsogue Beach in Westhampton, and Shinnecock East and Shinnecock Meschutt in Hampton Bays were three more recipients of the service, which were actually brought up prior to Memorial Day. Another half dozen throughout the county are also being evaluated for Wi-Fi service.

According to Levy, not only will the Wi-Fi service benefit park visitors, but will also aid the county with better policing.

Levy said that with Wi-Fi, police can use IP-based video surveillance to monitor and protect park assets remotely.
