Kent Animal Shelter Offering $20 Spay/Neuter Procedures for Puppies and Kittens This June
Here's how to take advantage of the offer.

RIVERHEAD, NY - Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton is providing $20 spay and neuter procedures for puppies and kittens under six months of age throughout the month of June.
They may be just babies, but kittens as young as four months and puppies as young as five months are old enough to get pregnant and have their first litter just two months later, said Pamela Green, executive director of the Kent Animal Shelter. “These precious babies shouldn’t be parents at five and six months old,” she said.
To that end, the Kent Animal Shelter, with funding provided by PetSmart Charities, the largest funder of animal welfare efforts in North America, has kicked off the “Precious, Not Parents” campaign.

Pet parents needn't worry that their pet is too young for the procedure; spaying and neutering is safe and easy for kittens and puppies as young as eight to 10 weeks old, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, Green said.
“Many owners put off the procedure and wait until the puppy or kitten is six to eight months old,” says Green. “But by then, a litter of puppies or kittens can be born.”
