Knifepoint Robbery in Riverhead Park Leaves 1 Teen Injured: Police

The 2 teenagers were surrounded by a group of 10; one teen was punched in the face; sneakers and a cell phone were stolen, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY: Two teenagers were the victims of a knifepoint robbery at a Riverhead park on Saturday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Police, a call came in at 8:51 p.m. and officers responded to Oakland Drive West about an assault in the area.

Upon investigation, it was determined that two teenagers had just been robbed in a neighborhood park, police said.

The victims indicated that they were surrounded by a group of eight black males and two black females while in the park, police said.

Two of the black males displayed knives and then stole one victim’s sneakers and the other victim’s cell phone, police said.

One victim sustained a head injury when he was punched in the face during the incident; he was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment, police said.
