LI Man Dies After Becoming Pinned Between Hangar Doors: PD
Despite desperate attempts to save him with a forklife, he did not survive, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A Port Jefferson man died after he became trapped between two hangar doors in Calverton Monday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at Oldcastle Precast on Burman Boulevard. A call came in that Thomas Savier, 56, of Port Jefferson Station, was injured at the facility and was in need of medical attention, police said.
Responding officers located Savier unconscious and not breathing, police said. It appeared that Savier had attempted to enter the facility through one of the large hangar doors, which was partially opened, police said.

As Savier entered, the hangar door closed, pinning him in between two portions of the door, police said. After an unknown period of time, two other men were able to free Savier from the door using a forklift and then began CPR, police said.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and attempted life-saving measures; however, Savier succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Riverhead Polide Department's detective division responded to conduct an investigation, which is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500.
