LI Woman Charged With DWI After Driving Off Road Into Bay: Police
Her vehicle was partially submerged in the water, police say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after she drove off the road and into the Great Peconic Bay Thursday, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, at 5:06 p.m., a report came in about a vehicle partially submerged in the bay at West Landing Beach in Hampton Bays.
Audra E. Phillips, 45, who was intoxicated, drove off the road and into the water, police said. Bystanders were able to help her out of the water; she was not injured, police said. A tow service was able to secure her vehicle.

Phillips was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI; she was taken to Southampton Town police headquarters and held for morning arraignment, police said.
