Who Won? Victors Declared In Riverhead
The public has spoken — see who was elected.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Voters turned out in Riverhead Tuesday to cast their ballots in the town supervisor's race — and, in a stunning turnaround, a Democrat and newcomer unseated longtime Republican Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter.
Democrat Laura Jens-Smith took the lead in the race, with 4512 votes to Walter's 3902 votes. Walter, a Wading River attorney, has served as town supervisor since 2009.
In a dramatic vote, residents shook up a long GOP-heavy town board, electing Catherine Kent, also a Democrat, with 4228 votes. GOP incumbent candidate Jodi Giglio retained her seat, garnering 4380 votes.

Michelle Lynch, a Dem candidate, received 3580 votes, and Frank Beyrodt, Jr., on the GOP line, garnered 4133.
In the assessor's race, longtime incumbent Laverne Tennenberg took the lead with 4615 votes to Susan Ambro's 3411.

Gio Woodson, who ran unopposed, received 6405 votes.
