Local Teen Nabbed in East End Drug Task Force Bust: Police

BREAKING: The 19-year-old is facing a felony charge, police said.

CALVERTON, NY — A Calverton teen was nabbed in an East End Drug Task Force bust, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Joseph Butler, 19, of South River Road in Calverton, was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony.

He was arrested as part of ongoing investigations into drug sales activity on the East End, police said.

Butler was arraigned in Riverhead Town Justice Court and remanded to Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail, police said.

The East End Drug Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional drug enforcement unit funded by the office of Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota, authorities said.

The task force includes detectives, police officers and law enforcement personnel from the New York State Police, Suffolk County Police Department, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Suffolk County Department of Probation, Southampton Town Police Department, Riverhead Police Department, East Hampton Town Police Department, Southampton Village Police Department, Southold Town Police Department, DEA, Homeland Security and Suffolk County District Attorney Investigators, police said.
