Location Changes For Saturday's 'ICE Out' Vigil In Riverhead

The protest will now take place outside Town Hall, organizers say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A new location has been planned for an "ICE Out" protest in Riverhead Saturday.

The event, previously scheduled for outside the Staples shopping plaza, has been moved to outside Riverhead Town Hall, located at 4 West Second Street, and takes place from 10 a.m. to noon.

Participants are slated to gather at 10 a.m and march at 11 a.m. Free donuts will be available.

East End residents also gathered Friday night despite frosty temperatures to attend vigils for victims of ICE.

"Join us, shine a light," event organizers said.

The vigils took place in East Hampton at Hook Mill, in Sag Harbor at the windmill, in Southampton at Agawam Park, in Hampton Bays at the Macy's parking lot, in Westhampton Beach at the gazebo, in Riverhead at Town Hall, in Cutchogue at the Village Green, in Greenport at Mitchell Park, and in Shelter Island at Legion Hall.

From Riverhead to East Hampton, Westhampton to Greenport, East End residents, both outraged and heartbroken after Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother, was shot and killed by an ICE officer in south Minneapolis, have been turning out for vigils across the East End and beyond to honor her life and protest her death.

Recently, "Shine A Light" similar vigils took place simultaneously across the East End for Good and other victims of ICE.

Outrage has continued to mount after a second person was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis — Alex Pretti, 37, an ICU nurse, was shot during the encounter, protesters have rallied nationwide as details have emerged.
