'Love Is In The Details': Pete's Taverna Set To Celebrate Valentine's Day With Romance, Delectable Fare

RIVERHEAD, NY — Valentine's Day is just weeks away — and Pete's Taverna in Riverhead has prepared a menu meant for making forever memories.

And that's not all: Guests have a chance to win a Valentine's dinner for two — by sending the story of "How We Met," describing the moment that changed their lives forever. "Maybe it's romantic, or perhaps, it's humorous — but it's the story of your lives, your magical love story — and the date that determined your destiny," Pete's Taverna owner Pete Moutafis said.

Reflecting on the Valentine's Day dinner, Moutafis said it was meant as an homage to romance.

"Love is in the details," he said. Valentine’s Day at Pete’s Taverna, he said, includes a curated menu, unlimited champagne, "and a night made for celebrating love."

The menu includes appetizers such as oysters, Horiatiki salad, and baked clams. Main dishes include a choice of branzino, surf and turf — including a 6 oz. prime filet and cold-water lobster tail — and half a roasted Greek chicken.

And to finish, the timeless dessert for Valentine's Day – chocolate-covered strawberries.

Dinner is served from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and includes unlimited champagne; reservations are required.

Pete's Taverna, located at 3225 Sound Avenue, offers fine dining, a taste of tradition, and a touch of elegance — coupled with live music, karaoke, and events hosted at The Barn out back.

Stepping inside, a guest can't help feel the similarities to a taverna in Greece, where friends and family gather for hours not over a hurried meal, but for a rich experience to be savored, as platter after platter of mezze, or small plates meant for sharing, fill tables brimming with delicious tastes and laughter as conversation swirls.
