Lovebirds Celebrating Milestone Wedding Anniversaries Honored
Longtime couples who have been married 50, 60, and 65 years — a total of 370 years collectively! — celebrated their love recently.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Love was in the air in Riverhead recently as couples celebrating milestone wedding anniversaries were honored.
Riverhead Town Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith saluted six couples who live in the Glenwood Village community, who are marking emerald, diamond and sapphire wedding anniversaries this year.
Together, the six couples have been married a collective 370 years.

On Thursday night, the couples were honored for the rare accomplishment of celebrate 55, 60 and even 65 years of marriage, the supervisor said.
The couples brought along their wedding photos and were given boutonnieres and bridal bouquets by their Glenwood neighbors.

Guests enjoyed anniversary cake as Jens-Smith presented each pair with a proclamation stating their eternal love is an “an inspiration to all married couples.”
Glenwood Village Board President Lori Slanina explained that while the board recognizes anniversaries annually at open meetings, "To have six couples in our community celebrating such significant anniversaries this year is very unusual and all the more worth celebrating."
Lovebirds included Diane and Bob Zeluff, who were married 55 years ago; Cathrine and Fred Eyster, as well as Marie and Frank Martorano, who are celebrating 60 years of marriage; and three couples, Delores and Buddy McInerney, Joan and Irv Hitzler and Barbara and Thomas Kluko who are all celebrating their 65th anniversaries.
