Machete-Menacing Men Rob Pedestrian In Riverhead: Police

They grabbed him from behind and stole his wallet while menacing with the machete, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was robbed by a machete-menacing pair in Riverhead Monday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at 7:25 p.m. on Doctors Path. A Riverhead resident, 23, said that while he was walking north on Doctors Path, he noticed a vehicle parked on the side of the road with two men inside.

The two men got out of the vehicle and approached him from behind, grabbing him during a scuffle, police said. One of the two men was menacing him with a machete, police said.

The two fled with the resident's wallet, which had an unknown amount of cash, police said.

The men were described as light-skinned and in their 20s, about 6-feet tall with thin builds, police said.
