24-Year-Old LI Man Dies After Car Crashes Into Pole, Tree
The impact of the crash Monday night split the car in half.

MANORVILLE, NY — A 24-year-old Long Island man died Monday after a Manorville crash, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, officers responded to a crash at 11:26 p.m. on Schultz Road.
Matthew A. Tosques Jr., of Medford, was driving his 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix south on Schultz Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road; the vehicle left the roadway, then struck a telephone pole and tree before coming to rest back in the roadway, police said.

Tosques was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, police said.
The vehicle was impounded for safety checks.
