Man Arrested For Driving Under Influence of Drugs, Alcohol: Cops

The man was stopped on County Road 105 in Flanders.

A Rocky Point man was arrested for driving while under the influence of both drugs and alcohol in Flanders on Thursday morning, according to Southampton Town Police.

Matthew Rosario Lapiana, 26, was stopped on County Road 105 in Flanders at about 2:34 a.m. for a traffic infraction, police said.

Investigation revealed that he was driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, according to police.

He was also found to be in possession of Suboxone without a prescription and marijuana, police said.

He was charged with driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

He was arrested at the scene, transported to police headquarters for processing, and held for morning arraignment, according to police.
