Man Assaulted, Robbed by Four Men in Riverhead: Police

Police are seeking four men who assaulted and robbed a man in Riverhead on Friday night, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police responded to a report of a robbery occurring at the corner of Maple Avenue and Second Street in Riverhead at about 8:50 p.m.
An officer on patrol in the area was flagged down by a man who alerted the officer of the fact that his friend was being assaulted by several men, according to police.

When they returned to the area, they found the victim, a 30-year-old man, nearby, according to police.
The assailants had fled the area on foot, police said.

The victim told police he was punched and kicked repeatedly in his face while his cell phone and cash was removed from his pockets, police said.
The suspects are four men, all said to be 19 to 20 years of age, according to police.
One is described as being dressed in all black and another was wearing red pants, police said.
A search of the area was conducted with negative results.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone that may have witnessed the incident or who may have information is asked to contact the Riverhead Detective Division at 631-727-4500.
