Man Beaten, Robbed In Riverhead: Police

He directed the victim to a secluded area where he beat and robbed him, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was beaten and robbed Sunday night in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, a resident on Rabbit Run called police at 8 p.m. to report a suspicious person in the area.

The victim said while at a gas station in Riverhead he was approached by a man who asked for a ride home; the victim agreed to give him a ride and the man directed him to a secluded area on Rabbit Run where he then beat and robbed him, police said.

The suspect fled on foot with an amount of money; a track by a Riverhead Police K9 unit recovered evidence in the area, but had negative results with locating the person, police said.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, about 5’6” tall with a thin build, police said.
