Man Caught With 3 Loaded Handguns At Motel: Cops

One of the guns was stolen from West Virginia, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was caught with three loaded handguns at a Riverhead motel Saturday, police said.

Russell L. Kirk, of Fairmont, WV, was arrested on Saturday at noon at the Greenview Inn on West Main Street and charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, Riverhead Town Police said.

Riverhead Police received a call from an employee of the Greenview Inn on Saturday, who said he had recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun from the premises, police said.

The Riverhead Police department's detective division investigated and determined that Kirk was found in possession of a loaded Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun, along with two other loaded Taurus 45 cal. semi-automatic handguns, police said. One of the handguns was found to be stolen West Virginia; Kirk is a resident of Fairmont, West Virginia, working in Riverhead, police said.

Kirk was processed and held at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility for arraignment at Riverhead Justice Court, police said.
