Man Caught Driving Truck Stolen From Retirement Community: Cops
An employee from the retirement community spotted the truck out on the road, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man on parole was cuffed after he was caught driving a truck stolen from Glenwood Village, a retirement community, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, on Sunday, Sept. 23, at about 10 p.m., an employee of Glenwood Village in Riverhead noticed one of Glenwood Village’s trucks being operated on Middle Road.
The employee knew that the vehicle was unregistered and was supposed to be in a storage area at Glenwood Village, police said.

The vehicle was followed and the driver was seen pulling into the driveway of a Middle Road address, police said.
Authorities were notified and an investigation determined that the vehicle had been stolen from Glenwood Village, police said. The driver of the vehicle was found to be Terry M. Smith, 55, 0f Riverhead, police said.

Smith was arrested, transported to the Riverhead Police Department for processing, charged with one count of third degree criminal possession of stolen property, and held for arraignment, police said. Smith is currently on parole in New York State; a parole warrant was issued for Smith’s arrest, police said.
