Man Charged With $11K In Thefts From Riverhead Home Depot: Police

The thefts of merchandise, including high-end faucets and security cameras, took place between September and December, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY —A Riverhead man was charged with stealing more than $11,000 in merchandise from the Riverhead Home Depot over a three-month period, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Charles Lamb,45, surrendered Wednesday at noon to police; he was arrested and charged with five counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, police said.

The charges stem from several incidents reported by the management at the Home Depot, located at 1550 Old Country Road, which occurred between September 3, 2021 and December 11, 2021, police said.

In each of the instances, it had been reported that an unknown man entered the location and removed assorted merchandise —mainly high end faucets and surveillance system cameras— and left without paying, police said.

The amount of merchandise taken throughout the course of five reported incidents amounted to more than $11,000, police said.

During the course of the lengthy investigation, Riverhead detectives were able to identify Lamb and link him to the thefts, police said. Lamb was processed, arraigned, and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility, police said.
