Man Charged With 2 Burglaries In 1 Day: Cops

He smashed the window of a Wading River pizza place, stealing cash and a coin jar, and was later charged in another burglary, police say.

WADING RIVER, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged with smashing the window of a Wading River pizzeria and stealing cash and a coin jar — and then, was later charged with a second burglary, police said.

According to Riverhead Police, Frank P. Colaiocomo, 30, was arrested on May 5 at 4:30 p.m. and charged with third degree burglary, third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and vehicle and traffic infractions.

On Sunday, May 3, police said they responded to a call regarding a possible burglary in progress at Wading River Pizza, located on Route 25A in the Little Bay Shopping Center.

Officers found the front window smashed; a witness told them someone had just fled from the front of the building, police said. Riverhead Police, assisted by a K-9 unit, New York State Police and a Suffolk County Police helicopter, established a perimeter, police said.

Two police officers found Colaiocomo alone in a vehicle on Dogwood Dr. in Wading River, authorities said. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters, police said.

Proceeds from the burglary included cash and a coin jar, police said.

He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance and then turned over to Suffolk County Police detectives to be charged in relation to another burglary that had taken place earlier that same evening in their jurisdiction, police said.
