Man Charged With Felony DWI In Mattituck: Police

He has a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years, police say.

MATTITUCK, NY — A Greenport man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Thursday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 6:03 p.m. on Cox Neck Road in Mattituck. Thomas Hilton, 55, was arrested and charged with felony DWI, previous conviction wihin 10 years; operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 of 1 percent, prior; and resisting arrest, as well as speeding and an exhaust system equipment violation, police said.

Hilton was stopped on Route 48 and Cox Neck Rd for exceeding the posted speed limit and for having equipment violations; he was determined to be intoxicated and placed under arrest, police said.

Hilton was transported to Southold Town Police headquarters where he was processed and held to await arraignment before Southold Town Justice Court, police said.
