Man Charged With Felony Assault In Riverhead: Police

He was arrested following an altercation during which another man sustained lacerations to his arm, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was arrested Thursday night after a physical altercation on West Main Street in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, at 9:18 p.m. a call came in about the dispute involving residents of a West Main Street home. One man, 39, sustained a laceration to his arm, police said. He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corp for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and released, police said.

An investigation by Riverhead detectives led to the arrest of Jason Melenciano, 40, of Riverhead; he was charged with one count of second-degree assault, a felony, and held for arraignment, police said.
