Man Charged In String Of Riverhead Burglaries: Police

He was arrested on Saturday in Riverhead, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged in a string of burglaries Saturday, police said.

According to the Riverhead Police Department, Kenneth Hughes, 33, was arrested on Industrial Boulevard and charged with three counts of third-degree burglary — one count each for burglaries at Cuddy's Bar on 3rd Street in South Jamesport; Green Island Distributors on West Main Street in Riverhead; and the River Walk Bar & Grille on Peconic Avenue in Riverhead, police said.

Hughes was also charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property in connection to the reported burglary at Green Island Distributors, police said.

Hughes was transported to Riverhead Police headquarters where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.

An investigation into additional reported burglaries is ongoing by the Riverhead Police Department's detective division and additional charges are expected, police said.
