Man Choked, Robbed By Duo in Riverhead: Police

The search is on for the suspects, who stole a wallet and two cell phones, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY - The search is one for two men who choked and robbed a pedestrian in Riverhead Saturday night, police said.

According to the Riverhead Police Department, the incident took place at 9:58 p.m. on West 2nd Street after a Latino man, 25, reported that while walking on Third Street in Riverhead he was approached from behind by two black men on bicycles.

One of the men grabbed the victim's wallet and two cell phones from his pockets, police said. The pair then fled the area on bicycles, police said.

Riverhead Police's patrol division searched the area for the suspects with negative results, police said.

The men were described as both possibly being in their early 20s with thin builds; both were wearing gray hooded sweatshirts and dark colored pants, police said.

One subject was around 5' tall and the other was around 5' 8" tall, police said.
