Man Crashes Car Near LIE Exit Ramp, Busted in July 4 Stop DWI Enforcement Action: Riverhead Police
Three others were also arrested at checkpoints were set up around Riverhead, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY - Police nabbed four drunk drivers during a STOP- DWI enforcement sweep Saturday night in Riverhead, authorities said — one man after he crashed his car near the exit ramp of the Long Island Expressway and hit signs and markers.
According to a release by the Riverhead Police Department, the checkpoints were set up on Saturday at 8 p.m. and were in force until 4 a.m. Sunday.
Three of those arrested were caught at sobriety/safety checkpoints, police said, including:

- Gambino Ruiz Coz, 47, of Riverhead was arrested at a checkpoint on Sound Avenue near West Lane and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
- Jorge M. Garcia Aguilar, 31, of Riverhead, was arrested at East Main Street, west of Elton Avenue, and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

- Leopoldo Ferrufino, 50, of Flanders, was arrested on Peconic Avenue near Main Street and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
- A fourth man, Juan Gutierrez, 25, of Stamford, CT, was arrested at a single car accident that occurred near the eastbound Exit 72 ramp of the Long Island Expressway when his vehicle ran off the roadway, hitting numerous highway markers and signs, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
All four subjects were processed and held until morning arraignment, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department will be continuing their Stop-DWI enforcement throughout the rest of the summer and through the end of the year holiday seasons, police said.
