Man With Cutting Shears Threatens To Rape, Kill Woman, Tries to Drag Her to Woods: Police

GREENPORT, NY — A Southold man with cutting shears threatened to rape and kill a woman and then tried to drag her into a wooded area in Greenport, police said.

The attack took place on Tuesday at 3 p.m. on Route 25 in Greenport, police said. Jose Amadeo Perez, 38, was arrested and charged with second degree attempted assault, a felony, first degree unlawful imprisonment, a felony, second degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and second degree harassment, a violation, police said.

Southold Police responded to Route 25 in Greenport after a report of a man physically attacking a woman, police said.

Upon arrival police found a 27-year-old female, who said an unknown man had threatened her with a pair of cutting shears and told her that he was going to rape and kill her, then attempted to drag her to a nearby wooded area, police said.

Amadeo Perez was located in the area and placed under arrest; he was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
