Man Dies After Being Hit By Car in Flanders

Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the unknown man.

An unidentified man died after he was hit by a car in Flanders on Saturday morning, according to Southampton Town Police.

Police responded to the report of an accident on State Route 24 by the 7-Eleven store at the corner of Cypress Avenue at about 12:30 a.m.

Police determined that a car was traveling west on State Route 24 when it struck a man who appeared to be in the westbound lane, police said.

The man was treated at the scene by the Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, police said.

The Southampton Town Police are seeking the assistance of the public in determining the identity of the deceased man.

He is described as 5-foot-1, 149 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, police said.

The man is believed to live somewhere in the Flanders area and anyone with information pertaining to the unknown man is requested to contact the Southampton Town Police Department at 631-702-2230.
