Man Drove Drunk With Multiple Suspensions: Police

The man was cuffed in Riverhead, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man was caught driving drunk with multiple suspensions, police said.

According to New York State Police, on Jan. 18, Antonio Vargas, 39, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop for multiple traffic violations on Northville Turnpike.

Vargas was transported back to New York State Police Barracks Riverside where he refused to provide a breath sample, police said.

A check of Vargas’s driving record found that his license had multiple suspensions and he was subsequently charged with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

He was held for arraignment at Riverhead Town Justice Court, police said.
