Man Faces New Charges For Thefts From Cars In Wading River: Cops

He faces new charges after stealing from vehicles in Wading River in January, police say.

WADING RIVER, NY — A man is facing new charges after a string of reported larcenies in Wading River, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's COPE division arrested Patrick A. Fontaine, 36, on Feb. 14 and charged him with 10 counts of criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

The arrest stems from an investigation into larcenies from vehicles in Wading River during January, police said.

Fontaine remains incarcerated since an earlier arrest on Jan. 18; Fontaine was transported to headquarters from the Suffolk County correctional facility to be processed and then, turned back over to the Suffolk County Sheriff's deputies to be transported back to the jail until his next court date, police said.

In January, Fontaine was arrested by the Riverhead Police Department's COPE division on Hulse Landing Road in Wading River and charged with second degree criminal trespass and unlawful possession of marijuana, stemming from an investigation into larcenies from vehicles in the Wading River area, police said.

Fontaine is the primary suspect in those larcenies from vehicles in Wading River in January, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and property has been recovered relating to the larcenies, police said in January.
